Roots of Change: Election Reform
Fair and accurate elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. Yet here, in United States of America, we have serious problems with election fairness and accuracy. We must act to restore trust in our democratic process. Reforming our elections so they are free, fair, and truly democratic must be the highest priority of our California legislature.
Roots of Change: Sustainable Statewide Planning
Over ten million new Californians are expected to swell our population in the next 15 years. As a former Planning Commissioner, I understand the vital importance of creating a strong statewide planning structure to make sure that California doesn't just become bigger, it becomes better. With this sustainable growth plan, we will improve air quality, preserve open space, and reduce traffic.
Roots of Change: A Split Roll on Proposition 13
In the years since Proposition 13 passed in 1978, California's education spending levels have plummeted to nearly the worst in the nation. I believe it's time to reform corporate commercial property taxes, to ensure that corporation are paying their fair share and that our state has the funds to invest in the reforms we need to create real progress in California.
