Smart Voter Official Statement for Stephan R. Passalacqua

Candidate for
District Attorney; County of Sonoma

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

When I became District Attorney, I promised to make Sonoma County safer and ensure equal justice under the law.

To achieve this, I have cracked down on violent gang members and sexual predators. My office has emphasized crime prevention and worked hard to raise public awareness of elder abuse and consumer rip-offs. We've taken quick action to resolve domestic violence cases. We've also increased help for victims and added bilingual services, to make sure victims are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

To ensure equal justice, I've professionalized the DA's office with more efficient management and new performance standards for prosecutors. We formed a homicide unit to make sure our most experienced prosecutors handle the toughest cases. We hired seasoned prosecutors from other counties to better address gang violence. And we've expanded our environmental and consumer protection division to safeguard our natural resources and protect consumers from false and deceptive advertising.

I'm honored to have the support of Attorney General Bill Lockyer, Senator Carole Migden, former District Attorney Gene Tunney, Congressman Mike Thompson, Crime Victims United of California, National Latino Peace Officers Association and the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Association.

I would appreciate your support as well.
