Qualifications and objectives

I have demonstrated my drive and willingness to do all that I can to promote the Democratic Party and Candidates

My name is William Manners. I am a retired Union Carpenter. During my time as a Union Carpenter I was very active. I did phone banking and campaigning for Union endorsed candidates. I was a delegate to the District Counsel of Union Carpenters for the Northern 46 Counties, a delegate to the Regional Counsel of Union Carpenters for the Northern 46 Counties and a Job Steward. I also volunteered for most every opportunity that presented itself. Such as, setting up for events like picnics, union meetings, community outreach projects and picket duty.

When George Bush ran for president I felt that I could not stand by and let it happen. I became very involved in the political arena. I joined the Grassroots movement. I helped with fundraising events, writing letters to our Congress and Senate and any other opportunity that was presented.

During the 2004 campaign I was instrumental in setting up and running the Santa Rosa democratic headquarters. I again helped with fundraising, setting up campaign signs and events at the headquarters, and hosted Democratic meet-ups to help others to get involved in campaigning.

Now I feel that I must put my efforts into energizing the Democratic Party and promoting the democratic values and candidates. I feel that becoming a member of the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee is my best opportunity to do that. At this point in time I am an alternate on the SCDCC and a board member on the Santa Rosa Democratic Club. As always I take every opportunity to help set up for events, such as the monthly club dinners and the annual Crab Feed and will help in any way I can to help my Democratic Party succeed.
