I believe in the democratic process. The views of all, single individual or group with thousands of members, deserve a hearing. Due process must ensure fairness. I have begun to study parliamentary procedure, having learned that it promotes justice and respect for all. Of course, without vigilance any tool can become a weapon, so I hope to inspire others with enthusiasm about process: as a nation, we are seeing how inattention to these details can lead to abuses. It is my committment to the concept of politics as a form of public service, literally, a way to give to our community (not to TAKE wealth, fame, etc) but to GIVE knowledge, assistance, to improve the shared culture, that impels me to deep concern and action at a time in history I perceive as critical to the survival of the very basic principles underlying our Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights...
