Statement to the Voters
I'd like to share with you my motivation for becoming a candidate and describe the skills and experience that I'll use on the Democratic Central Committee.

You've all heard the aphorism, "In a Democracy, the people get the government they deserve." Today, like many of you, I am alarmed by the current direction of our county's governance. Well, I decided to stop complaining and start participating. The work I did in 2004 for the voter registration effort--and the subsequent voter turnout--was noticed. My fellow county-members suggested that I continue to make a difference and run as a candidate for the Democratic Central Committee.

I have been a Registered Nurse and Clinical Social Worker for 35 years. I have worked for federal and county agencies, private organizations, and private corporations. In these 35 years of working with local governments and people from all walks of life, I have been successful at problem solving because I've learned how to communicate across the divisions of class, gender, political affiliation, and all kinds of seemingly irreconcilable differences. I have learned that to create positive change, communities have to assess the past, present, and future; balance opposing sides; and then develop action plans based on a critical assessment of the outcome.

My vision is the Democratic Central Committee as an effective cadre focused on the directive to improve voter education, increase voter registration, and amplify voter turnout so that our community puts the strongest democratic candidates in office.

We deserve the best government our democracy can create! I ask you for your vote on June 6th. Thank you!
