Matt Tuchow believes that politics should not get in the way of good public policy. He is pragmatic and independent of downtown. He focuses on solutions, not ideals. A Yale and Harvard educated attorney, he looks for low-cost alternatives; he assesses models implemented in other cities; he studies measurable outcomes to develop effective plans. A coalition builder, he works with people from all sides to find mutually beneficial solutions. Matt believes a supervisor's job is to listen to all sides and to bring people together to solve problems. By building coalitions, using practical and proven methods, and focusing on results, he believes the Richmond District can be an even better place to live, with clean, safe streets, good neighborhood schools, fast and reliable public transportation, and affordable housing.
