I am running for Democratic Central Committee because I believe that the Democratic Party needs a stronger and more effective voice. It is time for the Democratic Party to regain its position as the Party of Leadership, the Party of Dreams + and the Party for our Future. We have never faced a more critical time. Our country is completely out of control and out of balance. We must ensure that more Democrats are elected to office, and the DCCC can help.

I am running because I am committed to seeing the Democratic Party take back its rightful place as the leading Party!

I have a unique background as a progressive small business owner and an attorney. In six years of owning my small business, I have had to continually create new marketing and branding concepts to succeed. The San Francisco Democratic Party needs to help the Democratic Party brand itself as the Party for our Future. Here is my plan to improve the Democratic Party as a DCCC member

Promote Strength and Unity in our Party: As a member of the San Francisco DCCC, I will work with other county DCCCs in the unified 9-county Bay Area region to ensure that we present a strong and unified party. In addition, we should reach out to DCCCs around the State, especially during the next critical two years as we reassert ourselves in preparation for the presidential election in 2008. Locally, I will continue to work with both progressives and moderates to ensure that we find solutions to our shared problems.

Mobilizing Voters Over the past five years, I have lived in a variety of districts in the City. Portions of District 6, my current residence, and District 2, a former residence, have the lowest voter turnouts, and the lowest voter registration, in the City. I will highlight these and other low turnout districts for voter registration and mobilization projects.

Re-registering Decline to States and Independents Additionally, I plan to launch a special campaign aimed at registering Independents as Democrats. Most Independents honestly do not realize that registering "Independent" does not mean that you are an independent political thinker, and that Pat Buchanan is the most famous Independent. The Democratic Party is the true party for independent thinkers! We also need to focus on re-registering Decline to States, the largest growing voter group. Unfortunately, although philosophically appealing for many voters, being registered as Decline to State strips the voter of her power. We must empower voters by showing them being a Democrat is a source of pride.

Improving the Precinct Captain Program I believe that the Democratic Party's Permanent Precinct Captain Program can and should be improved. The Precinct Captains can help mobilize voters and register more Democrats, but they can also serve as sources of information for the neighborhood. The DCCC should compile a list of community resources available in each precinct and provide it to those who become precinct captains. Each member of the DCCC should be required to be an Area Coordinator for a minimum number of precincts and actively attempt to recruit Precinct Captains. Our city is worth this extra effort on the part of DCCC members.

A Vision for the Future It is my dream to organize a statewide DCCC fundraiser, with each DCCC holding an event in their county on the same evening, to raise $1,000,000 for the Democratic National Committee. It is possible if we collaborate with other counties! In San Francisco, a Democratic stronghold, it is easy to grow complacent about being a Democrat. But democracy demands constant vigilance. We cannot afford to let another year of corruption, cronyism, and deceit reign in this country. The SF DCCC must do its part to ensure that we remain loyal to the ideals of the Democratic Party here in San Francisco. As a stronghold, we have a special duty to set an example for the rest of the country. Most Democrats here in San Francisco identify as progressive Democrats. It is time to show the State of California and the Nation what progressive Democrats can accomplish if we work together on our shared goal of making San Francisco the best, most Democratic city in the world!
