Superior Court Judge Randa Trapp is an experienced judge who has also spent more than a decade in private practice. She received her law degree from Georgetown University and did her undergraduate work at San Jose State University. She was a deputy attorney general from 1985 to 1989, spending seven months of that period as a special deputy district attorney in San Diego.

Judge Trapp has also been active in her community, serving on the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's San Diego Board of Directors and as Chairwoman of the Southeastern Economic Development Corporation. In 2004 she was named the 79th Assembly District's Woman of the Year. She is also the winner of the YWCA Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award.

Judge Trapp is married to a deputy sheriff. They are the parents of two sons.
