There is much disappointment in the Republican PartyThere is much talk today of forming an independant party. Most of that talk comes from discouraged Republicans. My fear is that if a movement to start an independant party gains much momentum, it will draw mainly from the Republican Party. The feeling behind this thinking is disappointment in Republican leadership. Elected Republicans have created much legislation contrary to the moral stand of the party platform. Elected Republicans have spent wildly, creating a hugh deficit. Elected Republicans have refused to act on border legislation, even when the wishes of the citizens are widely known. Elected Republicans have created huge government beaurocracies under the guise of reforming education and health care. Elected Republicans have refused to stand firm on the war on terror or judicial reform. Elected Republicans refuse to support Israel, our only ally in the Arab region. Elected Repubicans across the board are guilty of constantly checking the political winds before making a decision. They change their positions as often as the political winds change. American hungers for leaders who will know the will of the people and see that it is carried out. The result of all this is a lack of trust in our present leadership and a strong desire for someone to take the reins and lead us into a secure future. My goal for the Republican Party is to both be that kind of leader and find greater leaders to fill the gap on a state and federal level. People are desperate for leadership. If the Republicans find someone to be a strong leader who adheres to true Republican principles, the country will follow. |
