Larry Wilson, District 4 , Santa Clara Valley Water District

represents Santa Clara, Campbell and west San Jose

  • Currently serving as Chair the Board of Directors

  • Chair of the ad hoc board audit committee
  • Secretary/treasurer of the County Special District Association
  • Board of directors of the San Luis Delta Mendota Water Authority
  • Board of Directors of Region 5 + Association of California Water Agencies
  • Represents the board at Agricultural Advisory Committee meetings
  • Represents the board at West Valley Flood Control and Watershed Advisory Committee meetings
  • Represents the board at Guadalupe Parks and Gardens task force meetings
  • Represents the board at Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Commission meetings
  • Represents the board at Water Reuse Association meetings

Larry has over 30 years of surface and groundwater management experience. Prior to joining the board, he served the community as watermaster, hydrographer, water operations supervisor and groundwater monitoring superintendent.

Major accomplishments that he shares with his colleagues are:

  • Introducing Policy governance to the District.
  • Changing the District Act to include environmental protection of our streams and watersheds.
  • The passage of the Clean Safe Creeks and Natural flood Protection special tax that provides funding for 15 flood control projects, stream restoration, and trails and open space.
  • Completion of the downtown and lower Guadalupe River flood control projects.
  • The completion of the upgrade of Penitencia and Santa Teresa treatment plants to the ozone treatment process.

A 5th generation native of the area, Larry is married and has a son and daughter, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He attended M.R Trace Elementary, H. Hoover middle school, Pacific Grove High School and San Jose State.
