For nearly half of our water needs, we depend on imported waters from the Sacramento Delta. Importing water from Delta worsens its water quality and discharges from the sewage treatment plant worsens San Francisco Bay water quality. It is time that we emphasize water conservation and increase water recycling to meet some of our present water needs and most of our future water needs.
Our county is water deficient. We depend on imported waters for half of our water needs. The District should aggressively pursue water conservation and water recycling to meet our incresing water needs. If it is not done so, water might constrain the economic growth of our county. Increased water conservation and recycling also would reduce demand on Delta waters, which in turn would improve Delta water quality and environment. Conservation and increased recycling also would reduce water flows from the sewage treatment plant that damages the wetlands of the San Francisco Bay.
