I am a mother, an educator, a financial director, and a community leader. I have the passion, the credentials and the expertise required of this County-level Board.

MOTHER

·With two children in area schools, I know the struggles that families face every day in raising children, navigating the system, and balancing schoolwork, activities and social pressures. ·I know the real-life effects of board policies on families.

EDUCATOR ·I was a teacher for five years. I know the struggles that teachers and students face each and every day. ·I am the only candidate with full time classroom experience. ·This experience is critical for translating policy into practice. ·I know curriculum: I have written lesson plans and learned what works. I know the importance of balancing teaching basic skills with important electives and life skills. ·I know technology: I lead the implementation of a district wide technology-learning grant, which placed computers in every 5th-7th grade classroom in the district.

FINANCE DIRECTOR ·I am a public finance expert. ·For the past 5 years I have managed finances for large public agencies. I am currently the Director of Finance and Administration for the Yolo County District Attorney's Office. Prior to that I was Chief Fiscal Officer for the Department of Employment and Social Services. I can look more deeply at documents and know how policy, numbers and legal ease translates into the impacts in the classroom.

STUDENT ADVOCATE: ·I served on the School Site Team, School Leadership Team and AVID site team. ·Current member of the Sacramento Safe School Project working toward ensuring the safety of ALL students throughout the county. ·I am committed to helping students achieve their personal level of success, one student at a time.

LEADER ·I graduated from the California School Leadership Academy and served on the School Leadership Team where I led the district in curriculum review and strategic improvement leading to improved student performance. ·I am a graduate of the UC Davis Center for Human Services Executive Leadership Program. ·I take vocational education seriously. I am a member of the Yolo County Workforce Investment Board. ·I use tried and true techniques and stay up on cutting edge leadership and strategic planning methods.
