Kern County, CA June 6, 2006 Election
Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jim Raul "J.R." Rodriguez

Candidate for
Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator; County of Kern

This information is provided by the candidate

As your Sheriff, I will immediately call for two things. First, a cost recovery audit of your budgetary funds. Second, the filling of "every" vacant position at the Kern County Sheriff's Department.

Patrol will become a priority along with my zero tolerance to drugs, gang activity, elder abuse, and sexual predators. These current problems affect us daily and did not happen overnight. I am a firm believer we need to get back to the basics and protect our children and seniors.

I am convinced that the foundation of the Sheriff's Department is to be honest and fair along with providing professional law enforcement service to the community. In my 25-years in with the Sheriff's Department, I have worked under five different Sheriffs and know what it takes to be a good Sheriff.

In any organization, the chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In this case, the weakest link is at the top. Leaders are not born. They are developed through education, experience, and training.

If I have the privilege of being your new SHERIFF-CORONER, my commitment to you is not to embarrass my community and department but to provide the quality of law enforcement protection you deserve for your families, businesses, and future, and the leadership for those who put everything on the line each and everyday.
