Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator; County of Kern

Greetings! My name is Mike Lage I have served twenty-four dedicated years in law enforcement, retiring as a Kern County Homicide Investigator. I consider myself a native of Bakersfield moving here over fifty-three years ago from Chicago Illinois. I have three sons, a daughter and two grandsons. My bride Mary and I have been married for over twenty years. Mary is employed with the County of Kern working with local businesses placing the unemployed back into the workforce. We have a 'furry baby' named Sam our English Bull dog who is the master of the house. My brother's Pete and Gordon are also retired law enforcement officers. Gordon retired as Sheriff of Monterey County.

I would like to take this opportunity to give you an overview of myself and where I stand.

First, I am not a Politician. I am a straight talker, I do not have the characteristics to say only what people want to hear, and conform my beliefs to special interest groups. I tell the truth and say it like it is. I have lived my life being honest, fair, and open-minded.

We need real campaign reform! High campaign funding has reached ridiculous levels. My campaign is truly a "Grass Roots" approach. I am accepting NO contributions or funding from any persons or special interest groups, thus I will owe no one. I am working hard to get my message out in the community. Covering ground by shaking hands and talking to the people of Kern County on a personal level.

My Administrative responsibilities and twenty-four years of law enforcement service has given me the experience and knowledge to run for the office of Kern County Sheriff.
