Hello! My name is Jeffrey A. Lytle. I am running as a candidate for the 5th District Supervisorial seat. I would like to introduce myself to the community. I was born in Trinidad on January 15, 1970. I am honored to celebrate my birthday with that of Martin Luther King Jr. I was raised here on the northcoast for the better part of my life. My education has included both public and private schools. I was a continuous Honor Roll Student as a Student Athlete. I have been involved with the community for many years. I have participated in a myriad of events and even raised animals as a member of Freshwater 4-H. The Redwood Acres Fair and Humboldt County Fair were always highlights of my summers. I have helped with Special Olympics. I have volunteered in feeding the homeless. I was an Altar Boy at Sacred Heart Church in Eureka. I have played, coached, and officiated soccer matches for the youth of our community for the past 15 years. I served on the Humboldt Youth Soccer League Board of Directors for over three years. I have mowed the soccer fields at Bloomfield School and Pacific Union School in years past for matches to be played. I helped the City of Arcata and the H.Y.S.L. in establishing a field for the very youngest soccer players in the city park behind Pacific Union School. Currently, I am a member of the North Coast Soccer Officials Association. As part of this successful group, I help serve all our local high schools, as well as, the North Coast Section between the Bay Area and the California state border with Oregon. I also help to serve the Humboldt Soccer League for adult matches.

In my spare time, I enjoy helping others. I will do anything I can to make life easier for people. I will get out and sweep Central Avenue in McKinleyville because of the need. I will go down Turner Road and Bartow Road to sweep as well. During storms, I have helped to cut trees out of the roadway, even alongside U.S. Highway 101, to make it safe for motorists. If a friend needs help, I will volunteer my services. I enjoy giving back to nature too. I build bird houses out of fence board scraps. It is rewarding to see birds nesting and creating new life. I enjoy planting fruit trees. The birds, foxes, racoons, skunks, and bears are appreciative of the extra food as well. I harvest blackberries on my property. I like things to be clean and tidy.

When I am not helping others, I am just a regular working guy. I am a self-made builder and naturalist. I like to blend in my projects with nature. I feel I have found a niche as a top quality company. I do believe that society and nature can co-exist with minimal impacts. I do believe that people can have a high quality of life, no matter what one's definition is. Individuality is very important for establishing a sustainable community, as well as, balance with regards to jobs, wages, and socioeconomic status. All people need to be included in the community. This is what I feel is most important. Everyone needs to be included and, most of all, represented. I will always be open for communication to discuss anything. Whether it be business, politics, athletics, group organizations, community events, concerns, ideas, thoughts, problems, or whatever, I will not shut you out. The main concept that I began to understand years ago is a concept that reverberates in life. That is, one must know the rules and the legal process for which we take part in. Without understanding and communication, the correct decisions will ultimately be mis-understood, while the wrong decisions will continually be scrutinized.

In ending, I would like to thank all my supporters over the years. I would not be running in this election for the 5th District Supervisorial Race if it was not for my appreciation and concern for our community. There are many aspects of beaurocracy that affect everybody on an everyday basis. The fact of the matter is that too many decisions are being made which do not include us all. Very select groups of people are abandoning the principles of democracy and are excluding most of us in the decisions and processes that are paramount to a healthy standard of living. Without inclusion, our community is defenseless without an opportunity to be a part of something greater. This just proves we need balance among all, as the process is flawed by design. I will bring communication, honesty, truth, fairness, evidence, inclusion, trustworthiness, balance and especially, representation back to the 5th District. Without the involvement of all people, how will we move forward? Lastly, I will say this is not my district, but it is that of the people; I am not your leader, but I will be your representative; and finally, I will include you all, near and far. Thank You.
