Candidate for
County Superintendent of Schools; County of Fresno

To work with all "stakeholders" including teachers, other school employees, trustees, other elected officials, parents, guardians, students, businesses, governmental agencies, trades, and private agencies of Fresno County to prepare students for success in life using public and private funds as effectively and efficiently as possible.

VISION

Graduates prepared for the world of work through preliminary skills obtained in high school or for further training/education in whatever field they select.

GOALS

1. Change the culture of the Fresno County Office of Education from one of "command and control" to one of "cooperation and collaboration" stressing service to the districts and all community "stakeholders." Seek to establish education as a positive career choice. Show the positive side of education.
2. Work with districts to aid and assist in professional development for both teachers and administrators in cooperation with local universities through existing programs and grants obtained for this purpose.
3. Establish a grant writing position to be funded by cutting administrative costs.
4. Encourage the reestablishment of vocational/career education programs in the county high schools. ROP funds and county funds could be used for this purpose in cooperation with the local trades and businesses to help cut down on the dropout rate.
5. Work as a "conduit" for existing services in the county to "join-up" many of the good things that already exist in the community. The services need to get to those who need them without "competition" for who gets the credit.
