Jessica Montiel: I live in Richmond where I came twenty years ago from East L.A. My parents are immigrants from Veracruz, Mexico. I graduated from UC Berkeley where I studied sciences, engineering, and women studies. I have worked for 17 years for the Berkeley Unified School District. I started as a teacher's aide, later I became a computer lab instructor and for the last five years I have been an administrative assistant for the district. I am also a bilingual (Spanish-English) computer lab instructor with the Oakland Technology Exchange West. All my adult life I have been an activist for social and economic justice, gender justice as well as for the environment. I have been a registered Green since 1994. Among the goals I have for my time in the County Council is to expand the presence of the Green Party among Latinos and People of Color. Thank you for your support.
