RON THOMSEN'S BIOGRAPHY (1978-Current) IN THE ALAMEDA COUNTY ASSESSOR'S OFFICE 2002 - Current Ron Thomsen was elected Assessor by the voters of Alameda County on March 5, 2002 and continues to be your Assessor today. 2001 - 2002 He was unanimously appointed Assessor by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on March 27, 2001 at the time when the former Assessor retired. 1996 - 2001 Ron served as the Assistant Assessor, second in charge of the department, from May 20, 1996 until he accepted the appointment of Assessor in 2001. 1992 - 1996 He was again promoted in 1992 to Chief of the Appraisal Division to lead the largest division in the Assessor's office of nearly 100 deputy assessor employees. 1987 - 1992 Ron was promoted to the level of Supervising Appraiser II. While in this position, because of his vast knowledge of appraisal, legal mandates, the entire assessment process and his outstanding public service skills, he was assigned to lead the Assessor's office public information section. 1986 - 1987 Ron Thomsen was promoted to Supervising Appraiser I to lead a crew of appraisers in their daily appraisal assignments. While in this position, due to his extensive expertise in the assessment field, Ron was assigned to be the department's Training Officer. 1985 - 1986 Ron was promoted to an Appraiser III position where he was responsible for appraising all types of commercial and industrial property. 1981 - 1985 He was promoted to the level of Appraiser II with the assignment of appraising more difficult residential properties and apartments. 1980 - 1981 Ron successfully passed the California State Board of Equalization Appraiser's Certification exam and was promoted to Appraiser I. His duties in this position included the appraisal of residential properties. 1978 - 1980 Ron Thomsen began his career in the Assessor's office on January 9, 1978 as an Appraiser intern. This position enabled him to learn appraisal, and provided him with an abundance of knowledge about the many facets of an Assessor's office. |
