Mayor; City of Hayward

My wife Maria and I grew up in Hayward. I worked my way through Cal State Hayward as a cannery worker at the old Hunt's Plant. Today I am the director of a Hayward non-profit agency that serves low-income seniors.

Hayward's population has grown to almost 150,000. Despite this growth, we have seen only one major new park developed in the last decade. Hayward's public safety service levels are basically what they were a decade ago. Hayward is losing young families to other communities because of dissatisfaction with our schools.

Hayward will never reach its potential unless we have better schools, more parks, and public service levels that keep up with our population growth. Hayward needs leadership to fight Sacramento's continued attempts to take local tax dollars to balance the state's budget. We need leadership to seek out and involve Hayward citizens in the decision-making that affects our future. We need to cleanup our streets, vacant lots, and restore pride in Hayward.

Making Hayward a better place to live and work is all of our responsibility. I respectfully ask for your support and assistance in my campaign for Mayor. Please join me in helping Hayward reach its potential.

Thank you.
