The office of judge is a non-partisan position. Voters are not electing a politician, but a person who will judge each case on its merits, without favoring any party because of political beliefs. One way to judge how fair a prospective judge will be is to ask whether the candidate has bipartisan support. Widespread support from both sides of the aisle indicates that a candidate is viewed as fair and even-handed, which is precisely what a judge should be.

I am proud of my varied endorsements. For example, I am supported by the Sheriff, and by the union that represents the Deputy Sheriffs. These two were often on opposite sides of the table in matters where I represented the Sheriff in labor and employment matters. The fact that both sides of the table endorse me reflects my fair, practical and evenhanded approach to problem solving. Similarly, I am supported by the Oakland Police Chief and the Oakland Police Officers' Association.

However, my support is not limited to law enforcement. I am supported by Women Lawyers of Alameda County, whose goal is to advance the rights of women in the society. I am supported by the Executive Director of Fairyland, CJ Hirschfeld, because of my commitment to children's rights. My endorsments include labor leaders, family lawyers, civil rights lawyers and a wide range of judges, all of whom recognize that what we look for in a judge is fair, evenhanded decisions that favor the truth and protect the vulnerable members of our society.

I urge you to vote for experience, compassion and integrity and elect Kathy Mount for Judge.
