Youth Services: To make sure that our youth have the education and the opportunities they need to fully achieve their potential as productive citizens in our community.

Domestic Violence: To reduce the incidence of domestic abuse and provide the support and assistance for victims

Public Health: To provide access to quality health care for all residents regardless of income.

Seniors: To provide quality of life assistance for senior citizens, especially those on fix income. are able to have the quality of life they so richly deserve in their golden years.

The Environment: To reduce the incidence of domestic abuse and provide the support and assistance for victims.

Economic Development: To develop practices in Alameda County such that government and business operate as a partnership to provide a strong local economy and job opportunities.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Public Health:

Initiated the "No Wrong Door" health insurance program which streamlined the enrollment of children and families without insurance, reducing the average approval time from 45 days to 10 days. For this effort, our County received an Innovation Award from the National Association of Counties.

Domestic Violence:

Championed the Alameda County Family Justice Center, which centralizes services such as legal assistance, medical care, andemployment assistance for families impacted by domestic violence+enhancing service and saving money.

Seniors:

Designed a dynamic senior outreach program which directly delivers services such as osteoporosis screening and flu shots, along with education on key issues such as identity theft, the Vial of Life program and navigating health care choices such as Medicare Part D.

The Environment:

Worked with county to reduce reliance on dirty energy sources by switching forty county vehicles to hybrids, installing solar panels on numerous county buildings, and promoting use of bio-diesel in other county equipment. Economic Development:

Created an Economic Development Committee on recruiting and retaining businesses in the unincorporated areas of Alameda County.

Youth: Doubled the number of school based health centers in the district, expanding the availability of medical care to youth and families.
