Position Statement

By Stephen A. Kalthoff

Candidate for Member, Board of Directors; Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District; Zone 7

This information is provided by the candidate
Serving the Livermore-Amador Valley as a member of the Zone 7 Water Agency Board of Directors has been my privilege since 1994. I look forward to another four-year term so that I may continue to help ensure that Valley residents have a reliable supply of high-quality water and so that life and property are protected with effective flood control facilites.

While my education at the USF (economics) and Berkeley (MBA) was primarily undertaken to prepare me for my 25-year career in the business field, it along with that professional experience have been invaluable in helping me with responibilities at Zone 7 for sound finacncial planning as well as water resources and flood protection.

I am proud that Zone 7 is one of very few water agencies that have planned well enough to provide its customers with 100 percent reliability even in times of drought. This has been no easy task, especially as the Valley's population continues to increase. I look forward to a continued role in helping Zone 7 obtain new water supplies, build new facilities to treat and convey water to the Valley and develope projects to improve the taste and hardness of the water.
