  • Nominated by Randy Hamilton, Dean Golden Gate University School of Public Administration as a Presidential Management Fellow.
  • Selected as a Presidential Management Fellow - accepted a position with the U. S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary Transportation

GOVERNMENT EXPERIENCE

  • Associate Employment Analyst - City of Oakland
  • Received an award and cash bonus for co-authoring the Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program, my first assignment with the federal government.
  • Negotiated an Intergovernmental Personnel Assignment to the Martin Luther King Jr., Center for Nonviolent Social Change
  • Received a Certificate of Appreciation from the King Center for participating in the successful efforts to lobby the Georgia State Legislature to designate the area of the King Center and Dr. King's birth home a historical landmark eligible for federal funding.
  • Participated in the development and implementation of P. L. - 95- 507 which mandated the creation of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization within all Agencies in the federal government.
  • Appointed as the Administrative Assistant to Oakland Mayor Lionel Wilson. Appointed Senior Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. Advised the Mayor on all community and economic development proposals. Represented the Mayor at meetings, civic events and political functions.
  • Successfully negotiated with William Sweeney, Deputy Chairman Democratic National Committee to assign several state delegations to stay in Oakland hotels at the 1984 Democratic National Convention.

  • Selected as a consultant to Alameda County Treasurer/Tax Collector in the areas of legislative issues and municipal debt financing. Also selected to assist in the development of the County's Business License Tax Ordinance. Responsible for hiring and training the staff and creating the unit within the Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office.
  • Appointed Chief Deputy Tax Collector. Negotiated vendor underwriting for the County's new Integrated Voice Response System. Negotiated with credit card companies affordable convenience fees to enable all taxpayers to pay their property taxes with a credit card via the telephone.

PUBLIC FINANCE EXPERIENCE

  • Provided over $200 million in institutional transaction services to Alameda County as an investment banker. Expert in fixed income, money markets and municipal debt financing.

SMALL BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

  • Produced marketing video on the City of Oakland.
  • Produced and hosted weekly cable television show "Political Perspectives", also produced weekly show "Money Talks".
  • Produced fan participation events for the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers.
  • Produced live music events for BET, Black Entertainment Television, the City of Oakland and the Annheisuer Busch Company.
  • Elected delegate to the White House Conference of Small Business.
  • Appointed by Governor Dukmejian to the State of California Ethnic Tourism Marketing Committee.

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Nominated by Assemblyman Elihu Harris as an Outstanding Young Man of America.
  • Nominated by California Governor Dukmejian and appointed by President Reagan to the Selective Service Board.
