Questions & Answers

1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

I have over 10 years management experience and 20 years of dealing with the public. I have served the City of St. Bernard for the past four years as their 3rd Ward City Councilman

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

I will pursue State/Federal grants to finance these projects: in restroom facilities I will replace all fixtures and bring these facilities up to code with accessibility. I will also add a shelter at Vine St. Park to conform to the handicap accessibility guidelines of the Federal Government.

This needs to be contracted out to a developer. I would strategically and centrally locate it in St. Bernard. To allow our seniors to have access to all the amenities of St. Bernard. I will discuss with seniors what is needed in their housing facility and will visit other facilities to gather information to discuss.

I will look into State/Federal Grants and also actively pursue a major corporation to sponsor this facility. I will meet with other recreation Coordinators to determine what is needed.

3. What steps would you take to ensure that all public facilities are accessible to people with disabilities? (100 words limit)

I would make it mandatory that all public facilities remodeled or new construction conform to the handicap accessibility guidelines provided by the Federal Government. I would also discuss this matter with those with disabilities to determine that their needs are met.

4. What specific steps will you take to expand recycling services in your community? (100 words limit)

I will continue to inform the residents of St. Bernard on the importance of recycling. At the present time I have worked with the service department on the separation of recyclable's. I will continue to send out update's on recycling to the residents to increase the number of people who recycle.

5. What steps would you take to provide affordable housing for all residents of your community? (100 words limit)

The city of St. Bernard is made up of predominantly older homes which are affordable to all residents. I think the area we need to continue to focus on is the houses that aren't being well kept. We recently hired a HIP inspector to keep our houses attractive and well maintained. This has driven our property value up and set a higher standard that is fair to all. Houses need to be well kept to make them affordable to all residents. If a resident purchases a house for a reasonable price and then has to put a lot of money into it to bring it up to standards. It wasn't such a good deal after all.
