Questions & Answers

1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Have been a Trustee for Columbia Township for the past 4 years, 30 years employment in Hamilton County as municipal Tax Administrator and finance officer. Columbia Township resident since 1988. Member Hamilton County Emergency Management Executive Board, which also oversees Homeland Security.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

1. In 2003 I proposed and led a campaign to increase police protection from part time to full 24/7 coverage. I am working now with the Sheriff's Department to maintain this level of service and update equipment. I have been the Township Representative to the Little Miami Fire and Rescue Department all 4 years of my term; am active in all decisions for the Fire Department. I am working with different neighborhoods to establish a policy for traffic calming devices to protect our children.
2. Working on a 20-year pavement program which will include rebuilding and maintenance of our township streets and keep them in safe condition. Apply for and receiving State Capital Improvement Grants for road repairs.
3. I am involved in the implementation of the comprehensive plan at all levels; meeting with developers, residents and inter-active neighboring communities.

3. What steps would you take to ensure that all public facilities are accessible to people with disabilities? (100 words limit)

In 2001 the township building was expanded and updated to accomodate persons with disabilities.

4. What specific steps will you take to expand recycling services in your community? (100 words limit)

For several years, Rumpke has been our contracted waste hauler and on a weekly basis,they provide for recycling of plastics, glass and other materials at no additional charge to our residents.

5. What steps would you take to provide affordable housing for all residents of your community? (100 words limit)

At this time, Columbia Township offers a wonderful choice of affordable, middle class and high end homes, apartments, patio homes and condominiums. The challenge is to continue providing the excellent services such as snow and leaf removal, without increasing taxes.
