fiscal responsibility

By Mary Jane Kenyon

Candidate for Board Member; Sycamore Community School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Almost $13,000 is spent per pupil in Sycamore School District and yet it is not enough
Our teachers are second in the state according to their salary. This is still not enough. Even though our enrollment is down 800 since 1998 and only last year cut 88 personnel. Our district is not growing and we must maintain the businesses in Blue Ash which pays 60% of the school taxes along with Montgomery and Symmes which pays the rest. Sycamore receives very little state aid or Federal money.

With the high cost of energy we see very little planning for the future.

Do you know that we have facilities that are not up to code and are not handicapped accessible and there are not plans to update and you have to question why this has been allowed to happened.
