Questions & Answers

1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

I work with the citizens and address their concerns. I e-mail the minutes, COW updates and other city news. I provide a Spring and Fall newsletter and have town meetings. I am on the CAP groups for Cognis and Cincinnati Specialties and talk to business owners.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

I plan to work on changing the city charter to allow for a city manager. I want a city manager that is qualified and answers to council. I would like the city manager to have the responsibility of assigning all appointed positions and end appointed jobs. If someone is doing a great job they keep their job no matter which political party holds the power. I want to work on getting stricter property maintenance codes and enforce them. The city needs a long term plan for Vine Street and actually do it!

3. What steps would you take to ensure that all public facilities are accessible to people with disabilities? (100 words limit)

I currently work with a man who is disabled and he is educating me on many web sites and grants. He has sent me a lot of printed materials on ways to improve our city's accessibility and what is required or our city. Recently I have been working with him on trying to get grants to pay for curb cuts.

4. What specific steps will you take to expand recycling services in your community? (100 words limit)

I would continue to inform the citizens of the amount of money this saves our city by letting them know how much we pay for garbage to go to the dump. I would also educate them on how this helps our environment. The city needs to make sure every home has a recycle bin.

5. What steps would you take to provide affordable housing for all residents of your community? (100 words limit)

I feel our main concern is not just affordable housing but quality housing that is maintained. We need to clean up the housing to encourage people to move to St. Bernard and stay in St. Bernard. We need to encourage people to purchase property instead of just renting. The city should work and encourage low interest loans for repairing property. The city needs to encourage builders to build on vacant lots by selling the lots to builders.
