I was born and grew up in East Cleveland, Ohio, where I Attended public schools. I enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the "Army of Occupation" as a radio operator in Japan and the Philippines. Shortly after I returned home I met my wife, Shirley. We were married in September of 1949.

We moved to San Francisco in 1950 where I attended and graduated from San Francisco State University. I then took graduate studies in psychology at Stanford.

We moved to San Bruno in the 1950s where our two sons, Bob and Jeff, were born. In 1963 we bought our home in Millbrae. We chose Millbrae because of the quality of the schools that our sons were about to attend. They attended Glen Oaks Elementary, Taylor Middle School and Capuchino High, where they benefitted from fine school systems. Shirley and I were active members of the PTA at each school and I served as president of Cap's PTO, the Cap People.

Shirley was a nurse. She was Head Nurse at Peninsula Hospital's Delivery Room until our first son was born. Later, she worked as a nurse, and later, Director of Nurses at one of Millbrae's convalescent hospitals. I lost my wife of nearly 48 years to a stroke in 1997.

I owned and operated a successful real estate business in the north peninsula for 38 years. During the last ten years I specialized in investment properties and real estate consultation. I was president of the North San Mateo County Board of Realtors and regional vice-president of the California Association of Realtors (CAR). I founded, or co-founded and chaired several State-wide commitees of CAR, including the Board Legal Affairs Committee, the Legal Action Committee and the Realtors Legal Hot Line. I chaired the CAR Ethics and Arbitration Committee and often served on arbitration or mediation panels. I retired from real estate in 1990.

After retirement from the Real Estate Profesion I owned and operated a successful commercial fishing business at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. I am now retired from that business as well. I have served as president of the San Francisco Crab Boat Owners Association (the Bay Area's commercial fisherman's organization) for the last ten years and serve on the Port of San Francisco's Waterfront Advisory Group and the Environmental Water Quality Committee.

I have enjoyed serving our Millbrae community in a number of ways over the years. I served on the Millbrae School District's Financial Advisory Committee in 1992/93 and on the Strategic Planning Committee in 1996, 2001 & 2005. I was an active member of our successful Committee for a New Millbrae Library Committee and am a member of the Millbrae Library Oversight committee. I serve as a Director of the Friends of the Millbrae Library. I was co-founder and am Vice-President of the Millbrae Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.

Nearly eight years ago the people of Millbrae and part of San Bruno elected me to the Board of Trustees of the Millbrae School District. I have worked hard to assure that the children of our schools receive the best possible educationial opportunity that can be provided to them - - and I have loved every minute of it. I would like to continue to make a difference and to build on and put to use the experience I have gained and the projects that I have begun. Experience counts.
