Preserving Local Farming and Floriculture

By Jim Grady

Candidate for Council Member; City of Half Moon Bay

This information is provided by the candidate
Tertiary treated (recycled) water will provide a high quality, low cost source of water for field crops, greenhouse operations and local golf courses.
I will work to develop a comprehensive plan for the use of tertiary water to provide low cost water for irrigation of farm crops, floriculture and golf courses on a voluntary basis. This will eliminate the need to use more expensive Hetch Hetchy water, saving agricultural jobs while supporting the golf courses that provide a significant source of revenue for the City.

I believe that the users of tertiary water should provide project oversight as members of the governing agency that will manage the distribution of this valuable resource.
