Housing and Transportation

By Pedro Gonzalez

Candidate for Council Member; City of South San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate
Maintain the 20% developer's allocation for affordable housing in the City, and create public transportation corridors
South San Francisco has been recognized with an A+ rating for compliance with housing mandates by the Assoc. of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), making us one of the first cities adopting inclusionary housing.

City leadership must include in its planning the acquisition of properties to turn them into affordable housing. The trend to make affordable housing available to our essential emergency personnel is increasingly being considered countywide in planning for the future.

To alleviate transportation needs, monitoring of the ferry funding to have it open in 2008 is essential for the wellbeing of our City. As gas prices continue to escalate, collaborative efforts will be needed in accessing funding to increase efficient public transportation alternatives.
