I ask you for your vote so that I may serve you on Brisbane's City Council. Consider me the candidate who offers a fresh, energetic and common sense outlook to Brisbane's future. I believe in government that balances `fiscally smart' with `socially conscious'. My 15 year career in design has given me the leadership skills to find consensus among a diverse group of people. You will find me to be a creative and collaborative problem solver with experience setting priorities, balancing budgets and building community support. I hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and Planning. I am a member of the US Green Building Council and the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce.

As a Brisbane small business owner I am interested in attracting a diverse group of businesses to our community that appreciate our greatest assets + our people and our natural environment; and (oh yes) the charm + we can't forget the charm. People love to live here and work here. Let's also make it also common for Peninsula families to come here to shop, dine and play. Let's welcome those who bring jobs, expand our tax base, help us preserve our open space and want to be good neighbors. Let's build our economy and channel the additional tax revenue responsibly to much-needed community services. I would like to encourage more artists to live, work and exhibit in our city. I also support the creation of a Brisbane Rail Heritage Park.

My wife Sally and I moved to Brisbane in 2003 to raise children - you will find no better champion of our schools, parks and library and no bigger supporter of our police, fire and safety services. I will work hard on your behalf to make sure that upcoming development and re-construction works make you even prouder to call Brisbane `home'. I will insist on quality and sensitivity in all projects, public and private, and balance those requirements with property owner's rights. I will work with my fellow councilmembers to facilitate the needed cooperation between government, business owners and the residents of Brisbane.

I will always seek your input and respect your point of view. I hope this next council team will inspire interest and participation in local government from more of our citizens. Thank you for your consideration on November 8th.
