Partner more closely with Palo Alto Fire Department

By Ollie Brown

Candidate for Member; Menlo Park Fire Protection District

This information is provided by the candidate
Our goal is to arrive at the scene of an emergency with 4 minutes 90 percent of the time. Palo Alto and Menlo Park fire agencies need one another to help each other reach this goal for medical incidents as well as fire.
The San Francisquito Creek physically divides our two communities as well as our counties and has been a tremendous barrier for many years. While each of our departments have very good mutual aid and automatic aid plans within each of our counties, we each set at the very ends of each county and the plans are not as effective moving into each others juristiction. Each have seperate county health departments that control where and how we respond to medical alarms. Each have seperate dispatching systems that controls the speed in which we are dispatched.

With improved systems and abilities to have simultanious dispatching capabilities would help each of us better serve our areas of responsibilities.
