Official Candidate's Statement

By Adrian Brandt

Candidate for Council Member; City of Redwood City; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Adrian Brandt for Redwood City Council -- Official Candidate's Statement
Name: Adrian Brandt
Age: 39
Occupation: Software Engineer

Education and qualifications: I grew up in Menlo Park and moved to Redwood City in 1996. I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

As a life-long Peninsula resident with a keen interest in transportation issues and local government, I feel Redwood City needs new leadership -- accessible leadership that cares and truly listens.

After my involvement in the unfortunately necessary Measure Q campaign to stop an overlarge project in the wrong location, it became clear that Redwood City is at a critical crossroads.

It is especially important now to focus on the revitalization of our historic downtown into a premiere shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Essential to achieving this vision will be to focus housing growth downtown -- where residents can easily walk or bicycle to shops and transit.

As a motorist and long-time student of transportation issues, I understand traffic and parking are important. But as a bicyclist, I know Redwood City should be more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly too.

Our parks, trees and open spaces are important balancing elements to city life worth protecting.

Crime prevention and public safety are absolutely essential.

With your support, I will work to make all of Redwood City the best, most livable city possible for everyone.
