Gerardo Sandoval

Gerardo Sandoval, son of immigrants, attended high school on a scholarship, earned his Masters Degree from UC Berkeley and graduated from Columbia University Law School. In 1995, Sandoval left a prestigious law firm to become a San Francisco Deputy Public Defender.

In 2000, Sandoval was elected Supervisor of District 11. An independent voice, Sandoval won new services for San Francisco's most-neglected neighborhoods and helped pass tough new ethics laws. District voters overwhelmingly re-elected him in 2004.

Sandoval has an extensive record in finance and administration. He managed the budgets of 14 city departments while serving as a Finance Analyst under Mayor Agnos; oversees San Francisco's 12 billion retirement fund; and erased a $300 million deficit as Budget Chair by attacking waste and inefficiency while crafting San Francisco's $4.5 billion budget.

Gerardo Sandoval lives in a small home in the Excelsior district with his wife, Amy Harrington, and their daughter.
