Position Papers
THE PENSION MESS
The most important requirement to restore the City of San Diego to fiscal health is to solve the pension mess and improve policy decision making and efficiency at the city. The first step in solving the pension mess is to understand how it happened in the first place and make sure it can never happen again. The next task is to devise specific solutions to reduce the city deficit.
REDEVELOPMENT AND EMINENT DOMAIN
I oppose the taking of private property from individuals and small businesses to give to developers. In fiscal year 2005, the city's general fund lost $16 million in potential revenue from redevelopment projects that could have been used to fund public safety. Grantville redevelopment project is a mistake.
NO EXPANSION OF LINDBERGH FIELD
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority have proposed a ridulous plan to construct a second runway at Lindbergh Field. I strongly oppose a plan that displaces thousands of residents and exposes thousands more to excessive noise.
