Educational Philosophy

By Mark H. Murphy

Candidate for Governing Board Member; ETIWANDA Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Each child deserves a well rounded, quality education that will help them be successful.
Each of our children deserves a learning environment that will prepare them to be successful in whatever they choose to do in life. Our educational program needs to provide a strong academic curriculum that not only meets the state standards but also goes beyond the basics and prepares them to make a difference in this fast-paced world. This program must include a strong emphasis on basic knowledge and must provide enrichment activities to stimulate our children's understanding of humanities, sciences and the arts. A well-rounded education for our children when young will help then to continue a learning tradition throughout their lives. Technology should be used as an integral part of this program as it provides many learning opportunities as our children create movies, presentations and use the internet to explore areas of interest that could not otherwise be brought into the classroom. Children with special needs whether they are learning disabilities, language struggles or other problems also deserve a quality education and their needs must be considered and taken into account in the preparation of the overall educational program.
