I am working for a real solution.

Monterey Peninsula gets its water from the Carmel River and the Seaside Basin. Both water sources are being severely overpumped.

What I have done during the past four years:

  • Implemented new protections for the Carmel River and its tributaries.

  • Advocated for sensible water projects that would legalize our current rate of water consumption.

  • Fought for public disclosure of private `closed door' deals made by public officials.

  • Opposed water profiteering through the private sale of water credits.

  • Treated my position and my fellow directors with respect, worked hard, and did my homework.

  • Championed the public's right to vote on large water projects.

  • Opposed Cal-Am's demands that residential and business customers pay for Cal-Am's inefficiencies.

During the next four years, I will:

  • Oppose Cal-Am's demands for huge unjustified water rate increases.

  • Continue to support the public's right to vote on large water projects.

  • Protect existing customers from paying for new water supplies demanded by big developers.

  • Protect the Seaside water basin, which is being overpumped far beyond its safe yield.

  • Focus on a feasible, environmentally acceptable water supply to alleviate the damage being done to the Carmel River.

Vote Yes on Measure W

Public Ownership Study

We, the public, need to protect ourselves from Cal-Am's ongoing

  • Mismanagement
  • Neglect
  • Huge rate increases.

We need to determine if we can buy out Cal-Am's control of our water system. Measure W will allow us to make a decision based upon facts. For this reason, I support Measure W and urge you to vote yes.
