Occupation: Businesswoman

Education & Qualifications:

These are `decision days' for the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD). Questions including public ownership of our water distribution system; your right to vote on large water expenditures; the size, location and control of a desalination system; and Cal Am's stewardship of our water all will be decided in the immediate future.

During my four years on the MPWMD Board, I have kept the faith with those who elected me, first and foremost by always supporting the public's right to decide important water issues. I have opposed developer interests in their attempt to take over the MPWMD, to limit the public's right to vote on projects that will affect every single ratepayer, and the developer's attempts to make current residents pay for the increased water needs for their new developments. If re-elected by you, I promise to keep up the good fight.

During the next four years, I intend to continue to:

- Support a cost effective solution that will provide legal water to replace the harmful Carmel River over pumping;

- protect you from financing an oversized water project without your approval;

- oppose Cal Am's demands for huge water rate increases;

- see that water distribution systems within the district are fair and equitable;

- protect the Carmel River and its watersheds;

- work to establish the public's ownership of the Seaside water basin, and see that it is properly managed.

A little background about me might be helpful. I am president of the Neighborhood Association at Del Monte Beach; I served for twelve years on the Monterey Historic Preservation Commission, and was appointed by Sam Karas to the Monterey County Historic Advisory Board. I also was twice elected to the Board of the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District.

You know that you can count on me to stand up to the special interests. My record of public service and specifically my record on the MPWMD Board tell you that I will represent you, first, last and always.
