Reflecting on the last four years...

By Ian A. Schatz

Candidate for Governing Board Member; South Bay Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Sharing my personal experience as a Board Member of South Bay Union School district.
The past four years of South Bay Union School District's history have been rather tumultuous. During my term on this board we have had several staff members retire (including our long-time principal of Pine Hill School), we have hired a Superintendent/Principal and a Principal, experienced declining enrollment (along with most schools in our county), and have completed several modernization projects that have improved the day to day functionality of our campuses.

Through these years I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with a very cohesive board of directors. While each board member has a different background and individual ideas, we have worked very well together as a team, responsibly seeing that the district is financially sound, that staff needs are well addressed, and, most importantly, that the educational well-being of our students is the primary consideration in every decision we have made as a board.
