Short Ballot Statement

By Javan Reid

Candidate for Director; McKinleyville Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate
MCSD needs to become a more active advocate for quality of life concerns in McKinleyville. We need to engage the county agencies intially in the processes of planning new projects.
We live in McKinleyville because it is a wonderful town. We all care about our quality of life and our neighborhoods. We want McKinleyville to remain a great place to live and rear children and grandchildren.

The MCSD has been the primary enabling power for growth in McKinleyville. Our future calls for MCSD to be even more proactive. We want all continuing growth to enhance and enrich our quality of life together. MCSD is a key elected body in our town. As such, it can speak with authority for the best interest of us all. I want MCSD to become more active and take more responsibility for advocating and negotiating with the County and other agencies for the services that we need in McKinleyville.

I have lived with my family in McKinleyville since 1988. I have served the community as the minister of Grace Good Shepherd Church, Chair--McKinleyville Land Trust, Chair--McKinleyville Area Fund, Chair--MCSD Recreation Advisory Board, Vice-Chair--MCSD Board, and in 2003 as Chair of the MCSD Board.

I look forward to returning to MCSD and I will work cooperatively with everyone in McKinleyville to assure a good future for our town.
