Solve Problems Through Consensus Building

By Dennis J. Hanson

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Rohnerville School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Parent and public interaction with school decision making is involving fewer and fewer people. I will be available, involved and approachable.

Consensus decision making is an important tool. While many parents, especially those who have students that are not doing well, do not feel comfortable involved in decisions, they are the ones that need to be.

Schools and decision making seem to be more and more isolated. Consensus decision making could be improved by making the decision making more mobile, by forming focus groups in homes or other local facilities. Instead of parents going to the school, the school would go to parent groups.
