1)Family values are a foundational issue for me. Our nation was founded with the family as a basis building block. Current legislation and judicial activism have made it imperative to intervene to preserve and strengthen families. Our moral background is also under attack and I will make it a priority to address these issues:

  • Passage of the Federal Marriage Amendment defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman. We need this legislation so that Ohio is not forced to recognize "unions" which may be made in other states.
  • Pro-life issues. Protecting babies, the disabled & the elderly reflect my respect for life and our Creator. I will work on legislation to end abortion, as well as work with others on any pro-life legislation aimed at protecting innocent life.
  • Restoring voluntary prayer in schools and the public display of the Ten Commandments. The battle to keep God out of the public is not new; just the battlefield. I will work to restore our heritage and right to a freedom of religion; not a freedom from religion.

2)Balancing the Federal Budget and reducing the nations deficit. You balance your checkbook and live on what you have; people in Washington need to do the same. Our failure to control spending costs us all. Money is being wasted paying interest that could be returned to the taxpayers. Cutting spending & waste is a priority. Pet projects and pork-barrel spending will not be ignored!

3)Our service men & women have done an admirable job in Iraq rooting out terrorists and a violent dictator. The price has been high in dollars and more importantly lives. Let me say here that I appreciate those that have served our country and those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. My grandfather was one of those who lost his life in World War II, and my entire family visited his gravesite in Eastern France in March of this year. This was long before we knew there would be an election. I had simply promised my children we would take them to visit his grave before they left home. My mother and father also were along and considered it probably their last chance to ever visit and honor his memory. Let's complete the mission we have started and bring our military safely home.
