When I ran for State Representative five years ago, I made three fundamental promises to the people in my district. I vowed to do whatever I could to fight for limited government, to fight for lower taxes, and to fight to end abortion.

I'm making those same promises again in my race to represent you in Congress.

I'm not one of those politicians who "skirts the issues," or says whatever I think an audience wants to hear.

I'm also not one of those politicians who says one thing to his friends and neighbors during the campaign season and then votes differently when the legislature is in session.

In fact, I have always said exactly what I believe and I have faithfully kept all three promises to my constituents.

I've lived nearly all my life in our community, growing up in Cincinnati and attending St. Xavier High School. I was a businessman before entering politics, working in the family printing business for over 22 years. My father and grandfather were both printers who truly loved the people of our community and everything that we believe in. They taught me the values of hard work, personal responsibility, family, and service to God and Country.

They are the same principles my wife, Cathy, and I are trying to instill in our six children, and I'm sure they're the same values you hold dear.

I believe we need more good people in Washington who will stand up for conservative principles -- principles like fighting for lower taxes.

The fact is, despite President Bush's tax cuts, Americans still spend more on taxes than they spend on healthcare, clothing, and food combined.

I have been relentless in my pursuit of lower taxes, reduced spending and elimination of waste in the State of Ohio. No one else in this race has my record of saying "NO" to taxes. Every candidate in this race will tell you that they are "conservative" but when the rubber hits the road, I am the only one with a proven voting record.

In fact, after both my terms as State Representative, I was honored to be given the "Watchdog of the Treasury" Award.

I pledge to do the same in Congress.

I am not always the most popular person with the bureaucrats, trial lawyers and lobbyists in Columbus. But, at the end of the day, I know that I have done what's right and acted in the best interest of my constituents.

I believe that's what being a legislator is all about.

I've won three elections for State Representative because my constituents know that I am honest, sincere, and capable of standing firm for conservative values even under enormous pressure.

I represent people + friends and neighbors - not lobbyists or special interests. I pride myself in being accessible to the citizens. You will see me in your neighborhoods, at community meetings and events.

With your help, we can bring our fight for limited government, lower taxes and ending abortion to the next level.
