Reverend Joyce Randall

Joyce Randall is a native daughter of Memphis, Tennessee, born to Jeff and Marjorie Agnew. She her undergraduate degree from UCLA School of Letters and Science and her Clear Science Teaching Credential from the Graduate School of Education at UCLA. Joyce taught biology for 19 years, 7 years in the Compton Unified School District and 12 years in the Inglewood Unified School District. Joyce is a product of the LAUSD: Marvin Avenue Elementary, Foshay Jr. High, Webster Jr. High, and Crenshaw High School. Presently she is an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, serving in ministry at First AME, Los Angeles. Rev. Cecil L. "Chip" Murray served as her Pastor for 10 years. Rev. John J. Hunter now serves as the Pastor of First AME Church, Los Angeles. She has been married by grace for 26 years to Michael. They are the parents of three sons: Michael II, 26, Jason, 23, and Franklin, 21. She adores her 2 grandsons, one born on her birthday, January 12, 2000. Joyce has one sister, two brothers, a beautiful stepfather, and wonderful extended family.

Joyce served in ministry at Bethel AME Church, Los Angeles(Rev. Edgar E. Boyd, Pastor) for 12 years prior to serving in ministry at First AME Church. She co-founded Bethel's Girl Scout Program with Cynthia Notto and Ruby Thomas. Joyce served as a Hallelujah Voices Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Steward on Steward Board #1, and Education Chair in the Lena Jordan Unit of the Women's Missionary Society, Lay Organization Secretary; Director of Christian Education, Vacation Bible School, and Tutoring Program.

In the Inglewood Unified School District, Joyce served as a Mentor Teacher; California Teachers Association Representative to State Council, Minority Representative, California Teacher's Association Intern, Grievance Chair for the Inglewood Teachers Association, Drill Team Advisor, Pep Squad Advisor, Accreditation Team Member, Program Quality Review Team Member, Science Department Chair, and the list goes on.

At First AME Church, Rev. Randall served as the Director of Christian Education from 1995 to 1998. She began a second term as Christian Education Director, September 2000, as the supervisor for Sunday School, the Nursery, and Vacation Bible School. She is also the minister for The Golden Touch, an organization providing spiritual renewal, education, information, and service to those who are 50 years of age and over. Rev. Randall is the Women's Bible Study instructor. Joyce is Supervisor for both the Tutorial Program for First AME and the "Keeping It Real!" Scriptural-based teen sex and sexuality project.

Among her many associations, Joyce is a traveler with the Order of the Eastern Star Perfection Chapter #64; a member of the Charter Study Commission, City of Inglewood; Life Member of NAACP Southbay; Boy Scouts of America Membership and Religion Chair, Los Angeles Area Council; Biddy Mason Unit of Sarah Allen Women's Missionary Society, Associate Member; Workshop, Retreat, Seminar presenter; and Chaplain for the Los Angeles Police Department, having been an Explorer of Post 833, out of WLA as a teenager.

Joyce accepted Christ at a very early age in Memphis, Tennessee. She was baptized in Los Angeles, at Southern Missionary Baptist, at the age of 12, by the current pastor, Rev. Joe Gates. Bottom line: Joyce knows only what you do for Christ will last.
