Nilssen has 25 years of experience as a data analyst/statistician and non-profit consultant for board development, fund development, grant writing and assest mapping.
Sally Nilssen has 25 years experience as a data analyst/statistician/demographer, utilizing these skills and expertise as a professional in the areas of government, research, teaching, business, and the non-profit sector. Nilssen began her career as a statistician with the U.S. Census Bureau in Washington, D.C. where she was routinely the Census liaison to the U.S. Senate and House Committees, as well as the Departments of Labor and HUD.

Nilssen has worked for 11 years in the non-profit sector advising over 300 large, small, and newly formed non-profit organizations and agencies. She has practical knowledge in board development, strategic planning, financial planning, asset mapping, fund development, data analysis, and program evaluation.

As program staff for Richard Riordan's private foundation, Nilssen had oversight for literacy development programs. Four the past four years, she has specialized in obtaining grants from federal, state and private foundation sources. Working with non-profit, educational and service organizations, she has provided workshops in grant application, board responsibilities, and financial planning.

In addition, Nilssen has taught at the community college level.
