This information is provided by the candidate

1) Creating Accessibility and Accountability.

I view the Clerk's office as the public's gateway to their city government and therefore communication must be improved between the Clerk and the public. As Clerk I will ensure that City information is made readily available in a timely manner and bring a positive customer service philosophy to the office.

2) Improving Outreach and Education.

As Clerk, my goal would be to not only increase voter turn-out but also participation in the election process. For example, as Clerk I will:

Actively recruit local high school and college students to work at polls on Election Day. Encourage City employees and Clerk's staff to visit local high schools and explain their jobs and responsibilities to students. Create a "Community Voter Outreach Committee" comprised of churches, youth groups and other organizations to seek ways of raising voter awareness and participation in local elections.

3) Incorporating New Technology.

Our city needs a Clerk who will bring vision and energy to the job, effectively incorporating new technologies to improve service to the public such as through the effective use of:

  • The Clerk's website
  • Electronic forms
  • Electronic newsletter and bulletins
  • Digital document managemen
