2 Year Term.

This is a Special Primary Election to fill the vacancy in the office of the Member of Congress resulting from the death of Robert T. Matsui. If one candidate receives a majority of the votes (50%+1), no special general election will be held. If needed, a special general election shall be held on the 3rd day of May, 2005. California has 53 members of the House of Representatives elected for two-year terms. This election is for the remainder of the two year term.
