FLORA GIL KRISILOFF

Flora Gil Krisiloff has lived in West Los Angeles for the past 25 years with her husband, Dr. Milton Krisiloff, where they raised their three sons. In addition to her professional background as a public health nurse with an MBA, Flora brings a 20-year track record of public service to communities throughout the 11th Council District. Flora is running for City Council to restore independent and honest leadership to city government, leadership that has been tainted by allegations of "pay-to-play" politics, special interest decision-making and political favoritism. While candidates can make promises to voters about what they'll do if elected, few hold a 20-year track record of trusted leadership in this 11th Council District as Flora. Here are some of the things Flora is proud to have accomplished:

As the former President of the West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission, she protected neighborhoods from overdevelopment.

She is a co-founder and President of one of the City's first independent neighborhood councils and has worked to make sure that the community's voice is heard on important issues affecting our neighborhoods.

Flora led the fight and defeated the federal government's plan that would have brought a commercial development more than twice the size of Century City to the VA grounds in West L.A. She was recently appointed as the only citizen member to the federal advisory agency overseeing the new VA master plan.

These are just some of the issues that she devoted her time to improving for the residents of this district and without earning a single dime for her work.

Flora is devoted to serving Los Angeles as a community planner and problem-solver and has already been recognized for her commitment. In 2000, she was awarded the City of Los Angeles Pioneer Woman of the Year Award. Then, in consecutive years, she was honored by the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce: In 2001, she was named the Citizen of the Year; and in 2002, she received the Community Appreciation Award. Flora has been honored by Congressman Henry Waxman, Councilmembers Cindy Miscikowski and Jack Weiss, State Senator Sheila Kuehl and Assemblymember Fran Pavley for her outstanding work. Flora is proud to have earned the endorsement of our Councilwoman, Cindy Miscikowski.

Flora has always put the needs of residents above politics and self-interest, and her record reflects that. As a nurse and a 20-year community advocate, Flora is committed to putting the needs of families above the demands of special interests and corporate interests. As a wife and mother of three sons, she shares residents' priorities in protecting our families and our neighborhoods from crime, pollution and overdevelopment. Flora will work hard to keep our families safe.
