It is an honor to serve as an elected offical since 1992. In that time, I have moved the school district towards more openness, transparency and family-friendliness in its dealings with parents, the public and its employees. This has fostered more trust. School district policies have been completely overhauled to better meet the needs of parents.

During my time on the board, our schools continue being modernized and remodeled. We have installed literally hundreds of computers and made technological enhancements so our children get a world class 21st century education. We have decreased class size to 20 students to 1 teacher in grades kindergarten to 3rd grade. Roofs have been repaired, toilets, classroom lighting, floors and walls remodeled.

We continue to hire and train more teachers to better serve the community's children. Our teacher training and in-services are models that other school districts seek to copy.

Schools are safer. Through a safety committe started by the governing board, more exterrior lighting, stronger locks, doors and windows have been installed. There are identification badges for employees and guests. We work closely with local law enforcement to minimize, drugs, crimes and truency. I voted to have a contract with a canine company for drugs and weapons detection on the school campuses. This serves as a deterrant to anyone thinking of bringing, drugs, guns or alcohol to schools.

I have voted for stronger links with agencies that enhance the schools' service to children. The district now has an pre-school program called Nieghborhoods for Learning. Clinics are providng health care on campus. After-school tutoring is available through a partnership with the Prueter Library. Through these and other efforts, student test scores have been steadily improving since 1999.

I personally have helped parents find the services they need for their children by attending meetings with them and school teachers and administrators.
