STEW JENKINS: MY PHILOSOPHY Government of the People, by the People and for the People shall not perish.

GOVERNMENT OF AND BY THE PEOPLE: Our democracy is something that we build together every day.

Thousands of people in our area get up every morning feeling there is nothing they can do, no vote they can cast, and no action they can take that will make any difference. I want to restore their hope, their trust, and their control over their democracy.

I am applying for the job of being your State Assembly representative so your voice can be heard at the Capitol. For 25 years I've practice law on the Central Coast, and kept my home phone listed so my client's could call me. To establish your power over your democracy, you should be able to call and meet with your State Assembly representative. I pledge to keep my home phone listed. I pledge to put a toll free phone number in the phone book so you can call me in town, or in Sacramento. I pledge to personally be in your community at least once a month so that you can tell me what needs your community has. I want you heard in Sacramento.

I'm asking for your vote so I can work for you, not so I can "govern" you.

I'm asking for your vote so that I can end the neglect of the Central Coast that has resulted in the down fall of our great schools, the deterioration of our roads, the loss of physicians and hospitals, and the threats to our livelihoods and environment.

Most importantly, I'm asking for your vote to restore trust that this is your government.

I am proud to have the endorsement of Jack O'Connell. Like Jack O'Connell, I will keep my home here and keep my family here. I will spend as much time as I can at your supermarket, your community meetings and "on-the-corner" of your main street, to listen to your needs. And I will work hard to meet those needs.

DOING THE JOB -- GOVERNMENT FOR THE PEOPLE: Government for the People requires an Assembly representative who respects People as well as listens to them. Only respect can bring together the Wisdom of the public about what we need with the Wisdom of the public about how we want to pay for those public purposes that benefit all of us.

Government for the People requires more than just drafting a law, or reforming the tax code. Government for the People requires that an Assembly representative work hard to oversee, monitor and help government agencies provide for the public what the People of the Central Coast ask their government to do. THIS IS THE KIND OF ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVE I WANT TO BE FOR YOU.

A vote for STEW is a VOICE FOR YOU.
